When someone mentions the word ‘Omaha’, you probably think of Marlin Perkins and Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. If you didn’t watch it when it was on, you missed A LOT of information about the wild kingdom around the globe. I know for years that what I thought of when I heard the word ‘Omaha’.
What you probably didn’t think about was a SQL Saturday right? I mean, it’s OMAHA, how the heck can they pull off a SQL Saturday? Isn’t that for big cities like Kansas City or Chicago?
Well, the answer is nope!! Really it’s for any community that has a desire to have free training around Microsoft SQL Server. We here in Omaha have that desire. Our local SQL User group thought that we could plan and host this event. And we’re doing it. On August 27th, 2011, Omaha will have it’s first ever SQL Saturday. Right here in River City.
With that, we are on the look out for a couple of things:
Speakers – if you know of anybody who has a desire to present, please urge them to submit a session. Call for Speakers closed on July 28th, 2011.
Attendees – How can you pass up free training? Yeah, it’s on a Saturday, but it’s FREE! That’s right. It’s not a typo. F.R.E.E. If you want lunch, we’ll provide it to you, but that’s $10. Tell your colleagues, co-workers, family and friends about it. Come join us!
Sponsors – It takes quite a bit to put this event on. We can’t do it without the help of companies near and far who want to help out the community. If you think that you’re company would be interested in being a sponsor, let us know. We’ll be happy to talk to them.
Oh yeah, if you don’t live in the Omaha area, here are some approximate travel times from various cities near us to Omaha:
