Get Your Learn On. SQL Saturday Style.

SQL Saturday 101In a few short weeks, on October 29th, 2011 the Kansas City User Group will be hosting SQL Saturday #101.  If you aren’t already aware, the SQL Saturday events are completely free (unless you want to purchase lunch for $10 or less) and it’s a great way to get free training.

Anyway, this particular SQL Saturday is special to me as it’ll be my first time presenting at one.  I’ll be doing two sessions back to back, starting at 1PM in the Missouri Room.

My sessions will be:

10 Things Every DBA Should Know!

In this session I’ll talk about some core concepts that newbie DBA’s should have a solid understanding of.  I did a similar presentation at the Heart Land Developers Conference, although that one was geared for developers and not specifically DBA’s.  So if you are new to the DBA world and have questions, come to this session and hopefully we’ll get you started down the right path.

Only You Can Prevent Database Fires

Have you ever gotten that call at 2AM with someone on the other end stating that the production database is down?  Does it get too hot in the data center for you?  Well, more often than not, DBA’s are doing fire fighting versus fire prevention.  As the old saying goes. an ounce of prevention will go a long way.  If you want to learn a few things that you can do to prevent some of those fires, stop by and I’ll show you a few things.

There are also a bunch of other session (check them out!) through out the day, so even if my sessions isn’t your cup of tea, by all means come out and drink in the awesome SQL knowledge that will be delivered that day.

Registration is open and remember that it’s free.  You can get a good lunch for $10 if you desire, but it’s not a requirement for registration.

What do you have to loose other than a Saturday? So roll the dice. I’ll see you on Saturday!
