Totally. Awesome. MCM Readiness Videos for the viewing!

I don’t know how to better explain this, other than “Freak’n Awesome!”. Microsoft recently released a bunch of readiness videos that you can watch to help you get ready for the Microsoft Certified Masters certification for SQL Server 2008. You can find more detailed information here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/ff977043

These videos are free and even if you are not interested in the certification, an absolute fantastic way to get some FREE training!

Plus, Aaron Bertrand Nelson (blog | twitter) wrote an excellent Powershell script that will go download all 70 or so videos for you. You just have to execute and sit back and watch. You can find his script here: http://sqlvariant.com/wordpress/index.php/powershell-script-to-download-sql-mcm-videos/

NOTE: I had to adjust the execution policy for the script on my machine at home. I had to run the following command since by default Windows 7 Home comes with the security turned up:

set-executionPolicy RemoteSigned

A true testament to the power of PowerShell and what can be done with it. This has been giving me the notion of trying new things with PowerShell and learn more in conjunction with SQL Server.

Also I think that a HUGE thank you needs to go out to those individuals who helped to put the videos together. I apologize, I don’t know who all your are (I could guess a couple probably) but thank you. And thanks @SQLVariant for your awesome script. Worked like a charm.

Enjoy!

  1. Oh no! I apologize for that! I’ve corrected it and thanks for pointing that out! I thought that I had double checked everything but that must have slipped through. Great first attempts at blogging eh? 🙂
